Default hard wiring

Hey, my friend installed 2 neon bars in his 944, they light up each footwell. They look pretty good in his black interior. anyways, he has to plug them in his cigarette lighter to turn them on, which is a pain.

What exactly is needed to hardwire 2 neon bars? I would probably tap the power supply of the radio and use a toggle switch. Do I need a fuse? I assume that I need to cut the ciggarette adapter off the neons, how do I wire them to the toggle switch?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

The wiring depends on what you want it to do. If you want it to be independent of everything, wire it from the battery or somewhere with enough power to supply the neon. Im almost positive there is just a + and - wire. Just cut off the adapter. If you want it to go with the stereo you can use the remote turn on from the head unit. Look at some neon sites for more info. You can get all the stuff you need at pepboys. The switches usually have a diagram. Hope this helps and doesnt confuse you more....
