LOL. Do you know what EMP (electro magnetic pulse) does? Not only does it kill electricity, it also melts the electronics. There is no way they use EMP.

I hardwired mine, getting power from the sunroof/overhead light controls(Sure beats running wire all the way up the a-pillar). Just pop the panel off and take power off a hot wire. My V1 is installed with the suction cups just to the left of the rear view mirror.

Default Hey guy

SC300 TT, Could you explain to me how you hardwired your valentine one? Im defintiely planning on doing it because it looks much cleaner... so far Ive heard people tapping off the power mirror, running it up the pillar, through the headliner, and then down near the rear-view mirror. sounds too complicated to me... your idea of using the sunroof power to run it sounds better, I just need a better explanation of how it was done, what wires you tapped, etc..

Thanks very much.

He tapped into the power wires of the sun roof. If you remove the panel with the controls you will notice there are bunch of wires there you could use. Simply pop out the plastic lens of the lights, unscew 3 bolts holding the panel, and remove it. You should see what he's talking about.

Ok, that sounds good so far, after i tap one of the wires.... can i just run it stright through the 2 or 3 inches of headliner before the windshield and pull it through to hook it up to the V1?

thanks

This is how I tucked the wires from the cd changer power leads (since I don't use a changer anymore)...

Pretty clean, pretty clean. Good job Rich. I gave up on radar detectors after mine was stolen. The cops aren't too bad here in OK anyway.

Default Nice

Excellent job there guy... Thats nice. Unfortunately as fate would have it, radar detectors pick up signals much earlier when mounted high in the car... mine right below the rear view mirror, just about a half inch below so as not to block the rearward sensor.... to make mine look cleaner im gonna have to go through the sunroof power supply ... i dont know what im gonna do with all the excess cord.. its a 6 ft cord and im gonna need like 14 inches!!
