Pic4- Wiggle wire with light pull while lifting latch and the pin/wire will slide out.

If you are talking about the actual wires from the canon connector you can do it your self using a pin. Here is how my friend does it.

I'am not sure if it is called a "canon" connector. It is from the back of the navigation unit on a 3GS. Yes, I need to remove a single wires from the connector shown in the pic.
