Default Stereo Install

Need to have brain checked. Pulled a Nakamici head out of the dash of my 95 SC400 and replaced it with an ebay Pioneeer head, year unknown. Buttoned it all up and noticed that the left channel was still out. Checked the door speaker and saw that it was rotted. Will get something to replace all four speakers now, being that both front and rear speakers on left side are shot.

Now the real "head up my a$$" finding, The Pioneer head unit lights up green instead of orange, which means I will have to pull the console/dash apart again to put the Nakamici back in. Took 3 hours to disassemble and another 3 to assemble, to find out I have dry rotted speakers. Man was it tight in there , decided to remove AC unit to get to the connectors in the rear of the radio which caused the wiring harness to get loose and couple of dropped screws added to the pain. Also, make sure you put the screws into the right holes on the sides of the radio, as there seems to be multiple hook up locations.

Just a little heads up if anyone decides to swap head units, make sure you have the right year and light set up, unless you don't mind a multi-colored dash. AND if your speakers aren't working, check them first.

Default Speakers

Anyone know the diameter of the rear speakers and subwoofer on an SC400? Also, how do you get the rears out? Looks like you have to go in through the trunk.
Thanks,
Scott

Well, got to the rears today, same diameter as the fronts, not sure if its 4 or 4.5, it would depend on where they measure from. Anyhow, I seem to have pried off the fabric that the speaker cover is connected to, and will need to do something creative. Save happened with the door speaker, ugh.
