Default Whos running OLD SCHOOL gear?

Me...
Sony C90 modded
Sony XDP4000X soon to be modded
McIntosh MC4000M modded
McIntosh MC440M modded
Dynaudio speakers (circa 1996)
Velodyne DF12sc (circa 1996)

I don't like the newer gear...lots of flash but the SQ seems to be dropping. Yes, even the Alpine F#1 Status is dropping in SQ. Darn 50 cent op amp parts. Grumble.

Nice. I'd love to get some PPI Art series amps, just kinda hard to find, and I feel like I need a 5.0 mustang or something on the lines to use them, hahaa.

yum... PPI art series. I had a few of those back in the days. I liked the black art series though. It had the looks I loved.

But I eventually sold off my old stuff. Now i'm rockin newer things that I'm satisfied with.

I like the old stuff myself--

All old school MTX Thunder Series amps-- had a 2300x I hit a 153db on the dash with a single HUGE ported 15 setup for spl, and I'm now running a 1500dx class d monoblock, and I have a mint 4200x just collecting dust cuz I'm too busy to and poor to rewire my new truck and add some legit mids and hi's....

I finally gave in and replaced the SC4 with a 2001 Blazer ZR2-- Mmmmm 4wd..

I swapped the down low ride with something that sits high-- AND it wont total on a curb-

I may eventually do a 3way setup as the Blazer has a nice setup for 6.5's in the doors and 4x6's on the dash which should accommodate a good 4" with a tweet for a really nice soundstage--

How were those class D monoblocks? I'm looking for a sub amp right now...want to cut down on the weight for my setup.

The 1500dx I suppose you're speaking of has been rated by stereoreview to resemble early Soviet engineering-- -- ugly and to the point, and VERY overbuilt..

They're benched at about 1.1kw right at clipping-- and about 60% efficient if I remember correctly--

I'm running a single Kappa Perfect 12.1 on the amp half load, so around 475rms in a 1ft^3 sealed box in the back of the blazer and LOVING it-- there isn't a better sub for $99 shipped-- (Crutchfield Blowout sale on new old stock last year)

Here's the review--http://www.carsound.com/review_archive/amps/1500dx.html

Here's the Chart-- @ 2ohm--
