Default Cd Changer Need Help!!

Hey guys I have a 1994 SC400 and of course the CD changer went out on me recently. I purchased a <1997 6 disc from a es300 as you guys know they are interchangable. However I plugged it in and now it just says ERR on the screen. Is the changer broken or am i just doing something wrong

since i was the one suggesting to use pioneer made es300 6 disc changer changer years ago on this forum i will answer the question.

first of all the only years that have the same plugs as sc is 92 to 96 es300 cd changer and you state it came from a 1997 es300 which has 1 (12 pin )plug not 2 (6 and 10 pin) plugs. so if the es300 changer you have has 2 plugs then it is a 92 to 96 not a 97.

so getting that out of the way. if you actually have a 92 t0 96 es300 changer the cds go in upside down or shney side up. if you put label side up then it will give error message. if the cds are in correctly with the recorded side up then the cd changer is defective. you could try a dry brussh cd cleaner disc in case laser just dirty. hopefully you can return it to the seller.
