Default Kenwood flashing Protect

For a while my stereos been flashing Protect and wont let me do anything. i googled it and found out it was a short in one of the wires somewhere.

anyone have the same problem? how did you fix it? would i have to take the whole radio out and search for the short?

could it really be a short somewhere, or is there another reason for this?
