Need help sound proofing
So my next project is to sound proof my 2IS.
For those of you who have done sound proofing before either to the 2IS or to another car, how much dynamat should I use? I picked up 12sq ft. so far for my front doors and it seems like i'll need another 20-25sq ft. more to do the rear doors, roof, and rear seats.
I'm thinking of buying some mass loaded vinyl for the floors and some foam layers to add to the deadening where needed.
The thing is, I'm not sure how much foam or mass loaded vinyl I should use for the whole project(doors/roof/rear seats/floors/and maybe trunk). Also, does anyone know which trims I have to take off to get the the roof?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
TIA

use as much as possible
I have 2.5 sheets of dynamat extreme on each door, about 8 sheets in the trunk, and about 3 on the rear deck (above and below), and I'm still not done. I think I'm going to do some dynaliner under the carpet and over the transhump so that I can deaden it even more. I love how quiet it is in my car!

Or is sound proofing more of a do-it youself kind of a job?

I just dynamated my right front door today and it took me 2 1/2 hours. Seems pretty straight forward. The only things you have to remember are which screws go where and which trims/screws to take out/put together first.
I'm going to do the driver side door tomorrow if I have some time and then the roof or rear doors on Saturday.

it's a pretty easy process, just time consuming.
If you want to do it right, you take everything apart and then clean off the metal of all the gunk that is on it, then apply the sound deadening material.

Okay, I put dynamat extreme on both front doors now and I just ordered some MLV and some of ED's V1SE^1 and TekLite V4 to put along the doors, roof, and floors. I should get all the materials in by Saturday. Hopefully, i'll have the rear doors and roof done on Saturday and do the floors on Sunday.

hey did you have any diagrams on where all the clips and stuff are at to remove the carpeting and stuff to mat the floors? i want to mat the front floor area, but i dont want to go in their blind.
as for the trunk space. i used around 50-60 sqft of mat to cover. the spare tire area, the top of the trunk, behind the back seat, floors, and some of the sides, so pretty much everywhere. hope that helps a little
