So I recently came across a 2000 SC400 and grabbed it (only 50k miles and black). The Nakamichi sound system is clear, but no bass whatsoever and very tinny. I actually had a 95 SC400 for many years, and replaced the entire stereo system (stock) at the time. I used a Boston Acoustics 10" which barely fit due to the gas tank being in the way. Who makes the best low profile sub that would fit in the SC in today's market? Thanks

yeah some pics would be great of that setup. I actually replaced all the speakers in my last SC...used the highest end Polk audio available at the time and it sounded great, with a hifonics amp, and a sony amp for the sub.
Is it better to use a box enclosure in the trunk rather than have it mounted in the space provided? I guess it would be more air displacement in the trunk...

well when i got my car my OEM amp had stopeed working so I decided to just upgrade the sub at the same time. I managaed to get my hands on a JL 10IB4 and replaced that in the spot of the OEM sub on the rear rack, then I suspended an aftermaket amp above the gas tank. everything is hidden and looks OEM. The bass is pretty decent but if your looking for loud bass then I suggest just putting a box in the trunk. the reason why I went the route I did is because I needed the trunk space. I travel from different cities for school and need to haul my junk.

i'm gonna have to see how big this box is gonna be, and how much better the bass response actually is compared to just mounting it. Also, I think I'm going to just replace ALL the speakers cuz they just sound ****ty! LOL. I though the Nakamichi was supposed to be SOOO good, but I think it's TINNY! Even the midrange sounds muted and dull. Any advice on good component speaker sets? I don't want to spend more than $2,000 with amps and installation.
