Default Sound deadening -generic brands

I've read a couple threads on sound deadening.
Ever since i put on low profile tires/rims on the es, the road noise has been noticably higher, not to mention the frameless windows cause a lot of air leaks
I've researched several Brands, from Dynamat, Fatmat, and some generic Gracies Ice/Water shield material.
Dynamat is waaay too expensive for my old car, but i'm not sure if Fatmax is comparable to Dynamat.
I'm looking to do all the door panels, rear seat/rear wheel well area.

Do you think this will be effective, or just the waste of money if the floors are not insulated?
How much sound insulation does this provide?

Noise usually come through the floor the most. Try Raammat if you want value/quality. They're about $120 for a roll (62.5sq ft).

I'd do the floor and front/rear wheel well. Get some ensolite foam for the floor also. I helped my friend deaden his GS400 because he has really crappy loud tires. After all said and done, his noise was decreased by at least half.

So would insulating the doors be a waste of money?
How many square feet of material will i need?

It's not a waste, especially if you have aftermarket speakers in the car already. But if getting rid of noise is your objective, then the sound deadening the floor will yield better results than just the doors.

the floors definitely do help in reducing sound comming into your car. It's one of the last parts that I need to sound proof :/

+1 for the RAAMat. Just put some in the doors and on the floors of my Miata and it has cut the noise significantly. Plus, Rick is a great guy to deal with.

are you doing the entire floor of the car? or just the front seat areas?

if youve seen a is250/350 trunk that is about 60 sqft top, bottom, sides, spare tire area and all. thats how much it took me to do my car.

I've been doing some more research on sound deadeners. The interior of my car gets pretty hot durring the spring/summer/fall (100+ for most of the year) even with a car shade. How bad is the aphsalt smell if it starts to degrade?
I also researched some liquid deadeners, but that method seems time consuming and messy. Are there any liquid/paint sound deadeners anyone recommends?

Edit*
RaamMat (Butyl Based) is only $86 shipped on Ebay for 62.2 sq ft. : )

Dont buy asphalt based deadener. I've worked with them before and they are bleh. Just stick to butyl based. In fact, most have switched over to butyl anyways.

Also..the b-stock raammat is a good choice if you plan on using it for floor only.

As far as liquid deadener goes, where do you plan to use it? I used it in my last car and it was MESSYYYYY. Definitely not worth it unless you need it for those tight corners.

Ok, i just placed my order for a roll of RaamMat on ebay.
I read on the mazda3-forum that the raamMat is only effective at reducing resonance of the metal, and that it doesn't reduce too much of the road noise.
So does Ensolite actually dampen the road noise and do i need it on top of the RaamMat My budget for this is going up...

Most sound deadening materials are there to reduce panel resonance. The original dynamat are mass-loading deadeners that will lower the resonance frequency. Raammat, second skin, etc are all viscoelastic deadener that will convert sound energy to heat energy. You can reduce road noise with these sound deadener because they act as a sound barrier. In fact, anything you put in between your floor and carpet will result in some sort of sound transmission loss. The problem is finding one that's effective enough, and thats where most people resort to closed-cell foam like the raammat ensolite foam. It's best to use both the closed cell foam and the deadener itself. Keep in mind that ensolite foam itself is very cheap. 1 yard of ensolite foam cost $12 and will cover up to 14 square feet. There is a minimum of 2 yard, but if you're doing the floor and front door panels, I'd get 3 yards.

Got my raammat in the mail a couple days ago, and since the rear seats where out for re upholstering, I raammatted the rear seat and wheel well area.
This stuff is sticky and messy
Two layers went on the wheel well, and one layer for everything else.

With the new leather seat covers

I will order ensolite for the front floor when I get to that part in a couple weeks.
