Line Output Converter BURNT
1998 LS400, Nakamichi
I'm adding 2 12's powered by a 500w monoblock.
First attempt: I tapped into the pre-amp signals for the FR speaker at the amplifier and plugged those into my monoblock... WORKED! The subs "popped" when they were turned on, so I decided against this route.
Second attempt: I tapped into the RL speaker and used a line output converter (LOC, Hi-Lo converter), then plugged those signals into my amp. Worked, except the volume was way too low, even with gain turned all the way up.
Third and final attempt: I tapped into the subwoofer signals (at the sub) and hooked up the LOC to that. Was loud enough and worked fine. I went for a drive and listened to a couple songs. When I openend the trunk the LOC was fried.
What's at fault here? The subwoofer signals or the LOC?
Thanks
