Default Any update on MP3 support for SC400

Hi,

I couple of years ago when I go my SC400 I was looking for some way to plug an MP3 player into the the Nakamichi unit. At that time there were a couple of companies that supposedly where working on products. Does anyone know if anything has come to market?

Thanks!

ps. I did a search with no results, but it never hurts to ask.

The car is no longer made so such part will not longer be made and ofered for sale. You could make changes to your radio and have it moded to accept input from ipod. Easiest is to get fm modulator get it installed behand radio and then use cable to hook it up to ipod. it will cost you 25 dollars and some time. I don't think sc400 radio was capable of displaying songs names and etc on lcd screen

VAIS technology came up with the plug and play interface for Lexus.
www.vaistech.com
Has been successfully tested on most of the Lexus vehicles from 1998-2005.

I use an inexpensive MP3 player with the Nakmichi in my '93 SC400. All you need to do is purchase an inexpensive cassette adapter ($5 or so), plug it into the cassette player, plug the headphone jack into the MP3 player and away you go. The sound is wonderful ...

It's not even close to an elegant solution but it's all I've got right now.

I've also heard that the Naka 12-CD player will play .WAV files written to a CD. I've not tried this yet. I did insert a few CDs burned with MP3s ... without luck. All I got was an ERROR.

Over on the Nissan/Infiniti boards we had a guy fab up a "harness" that used the CD changer DIN connection on the back for the factory Bose units. The using a button we could activate Aux-In to allow using any other RCA type input. Has anyone ever made something like this for the Nak HU?

Look into the Mobile Audio Section of this website and read up Puredrifters Hardwiring an Aux input into a car. I did it on my 92 SC400, and it works just fine .

Yep, burn the MP3's as an Audio CD in Nero and it will play them. All my CD's in the CD Changer are CD-R's of my favorite MP3's.
