Default sc300 and avic-d3

the two of these put together has brought me some of the most stress. I went out and bought the harness i need, however, i feel like something is being left out with the 4 harnesses condenced down to one. the biggest problems i have had trying to install so far is a whine in the alternator. any ideas how to get rid of the whine? the other is that i will have to custom make a dash kit. any advice from anyone out there would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortuantely, that is a very common problem with the D3. If you check out out www.avic411.com you can look for a specific fix for this probelm. The last one I remember reading was to make sure your D3 is not touching any part of the pillars behind the dash.

For some reason, the grounding actually created a power surge and provided the alternator whine.

Personally, I have the D3 installed in when I put it in my first car, I had this problem. I read the above fix and was carful to leave plenty of room when a transported the unit to a new car, and I no longer had an issue with it. I can't guarantee thats all it was though, because of it being a completely different car.

Good luck.
