I've been real sick for a couple of days so I haven't had much to do except to search the web, looking at various websites picking up new ideas for my car stereo.

So far I've come up with three possible ideas.

The first is too build a custom Carputer with a 7" Touchscreen, and an Alpine CDA-9885 below it. I'd fiberglass the whole thing so it would look clean as well as unique. The upside of this is I'd be the only person I know of in the area with a Carputer, and I'd have all the benefits of a Carputer. I built a regular desktop last December so that aspect won't be hard for me at all. I want the Alpine head unit, because I had it before, and I feel this would be the best way to handle sound quality from the Carputer. I'm not quite sure I can get the same kind of sound if I just run the Carputer sound directly to my speakers, amp, subs.

Option two is to forget the Alpine head unit, and use its space to extend the screen and use a 10.4" screen instead for the Carputer. I got the idea for this from this picture:

Again upside is all the features of a carputer, but I don't know if I can get the same sound quality directly to my speakers, amp, and subs.

The third option, and most boring, is to just keep my AVIC-D3. It's bypassed with iPod, Bluetooth, speakers, amp, and subs. It's a nice system for me, but I'm one of those people who always wants to do more.

So basically I want to know what you guys think. Money isn't really a concern, because I'll be working on it over the coming months now that I'm just working instead of working and going to school.

If you want to know the kind of audio stuff I'll be using I've provided a "shopping list" below. On a side not can some one explain to me OHMS? I'm looking at some 12" JL Subs and 2 different models with different OHMS that are the same price. One is 4 OHMS, and the other is 8 OHMS. I looked up some stuff and the process made sense to me, but it really seemed to depend on how much power they recieve. So what should I get 4 or 8 OHMS?

Thanks in advance. Any input would be great, and if this post looks familiar, I posted it in another forum trying to draw as much input as possible.

***Side not if anyone has pics of their carputers and are willing to post it I'd really appreciate it
