HELP! My lights are DIMMING
Well I finally got my audio setup and im running and it sounds great!
(1) Elemental Designs [bridged] NINe.2x AMP
(1) JL 10W7 in a Sealed Box
When I crank it up.....
My headlights/interior lights/guages/clock/etc DIM LIKE CRAZY!
Do I need a different battery? cap?
Suggestions?

Well I went out and got a 8farad capacitor.
Im kind of confused how to hook this thing up to be honest.
I thought there would be a POSITIVE INPUT and POSITIVE OUTPUT post ? But there is only a single positive and negative post
Do I twist the lead comming from both the amp and the battery together and hook it up to the positive terminal of the cap ????

well one side is going to go to an independ ground.
for the positive side you have to split it something

i got something like that and wrap both wires inside. so one will go into the cap itself. the other part will go into the amp. if that makes sense
good picture you can see two red wires coming out and one ground wire which is purple

yes thanks. that did help!
I had a different idea in my head like the current would travel THROUGH the cap if you know what I mean?
like this...
|battery|--->|cap|--->|amp|
but apparantly that is not the case.... now i gotta figure out how to pre-charge this thing

to charge the cap it should of came with a resister. you put that inbetween the power wire and the cap. if you dont have that just tap the power wire on the positive side. it will spark a bit. but it will charge up the cap. the resister suppose to help it from not sparking. make sure you have the ground on the cap already too.

Look to see if you have an externally mounted voltage regulator on the passenger fender and make sure that there are wires attached to it that go from the alternator to the battery. If so, you can buy a regulator at any auto supply shop and replace it yourself, just make sure you hook it up exactly as the old one.

I agree with Robert_J. Do the big three and you'll solve your problem. If it doesn't, then you'll need a new battery, and if that doesn't help then you need a ho alternator. IMO, caps are worthless.
