Speaker Install Help
Hello All,
I am currently in middle of mod, upgrading my factory system with complete aftermarket system.
Head Unit - Kenwood DNX 8120
Speakers - Polk Audio DB6501 in All four doors
Amps - Rockford Punch P450.4
Subs - Kicker 07DCVR102
Sub Amp - Kicker ZX750.1
I am using method seen here to install the speakers in the doors: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=104283
BUT instead of using MDF to make the panels I am using material called Azek.
http://www.azek.com/
It comes in 4 x 8 sheets and I had it leftover it from my work project. It is more then 1/2 inch thick.
When installing my door speakers I also covered by entire door in Dynamat Extreme, filling in any openings, and used XTC foam baffles just like the other member.
For some reason my speakers sound like they are bottoming out and I am not sure the reason behind it. When I listen to classic rock it sounds good but anything with little bass and they sound bad.
I thought about changing out the Azek material and using MDF but I rather not do that if that is not the reason. Azek is very strong and water/weather proof.
Previous member also had same kind of issue which he resolved by cutting the back of the XTC baffles off. I am going to try that also but I guess what I would like to know is how much affect Azek is having on the sound coming out of my speakers, if any at all and would sound quality improve if I made the baffles out of MDF.
Thank you in advance for any help in this matter.
