Default 2001 LS430, No Disk Detected on Nav

Has anyone ever tried to open the Navigation Player box and replace just the DVD drive? On my LS430 the unit is in the trunk. If I can change out the DVD drive on my Dell computer, why not in this navigation unit? Any input? It doesn't work now. Will messing with it make it not work even worse?

Its not that simple. The drive is not a standard drive like other DVD players... it has the same components, but its not standard. The only part that needs replaced is the little motor as thats what burns out in these units.
I just fixed my dads RX300 nav unit by replacing that motor... PM me for details.
