Audio USB Adapter

Audio USB Adapter
Anyone use, know of, or recommend a USB adapter we can plug into the Auxiliary jack to play music stored on a USB drive? I know we can plug in a IPOD, but USB drives give additional flexibility. Many after market stereos now come with USB input ports.

If you are talking about an adapter for the 3.5mm aux jack like the one I have in my ES-350, then you need more than just an adapter. You would need some type of music player that accepts USB inputs because the 3.5mm aux jack is an analog input.

I've just fitted a Grom kit to my 2008 GS300, with a USB repeater to provide a neat little box mounted socket:
Seems to work OK, though they are still working on software upgrades to display the content on the MFD.
(The cables on the right hand side are for my radar detector, nothing to do with the Grom box, which I've fitted inside the centre console.)

Does this replace the CD changer or is it used in conjunction with it? Was instalation difficult? This is exactly what I'm looking for and the price is much better than the unit that is usually advertised at the top of this page.

It appears as the 'Aux' device on my ML setup so you can just toggle between it and the DVD changer. Removing the radio/changer unit is quite straightforward using the instructions linked to in the sticky at the top of the 3GS forum. There's a y cable, and you disconnect one plug at the back of the unit, plug it into the y-cable, and then connect the other plug on the cable to the radio/changer.
I tucked the grom box itself down under the ashtray in the centre console where there's a convenient space. Of course, it will be different on an ES! It's a much smaller box than the other one mentioned here, tho' at present the software isn't as advanced in being able to display track names etc.
