Default Remote start ???'s

I got a 2g gs300 and i got an aftermarket alarm installed. I've got the bypass module for it. Now my question is, do you need a 2nd key to get the remote start to work? The installer said he needs to program it with 1 key in the ignition and the main to program. The car wants to start but he says it won't till i have the 2nd key. Does that sound right?

I believe your 98 has an immobilizer which would require a key to be "buried". Meaning your installer will need a second key to put in a module to trick the immobilizer into thinking there is a key in the car during remote starts.

Just had on put in my LX 470. Had to use a valet key to put in unit as said so that the chip will let it start without key. Used valet key, a lot cheaper than a master key.
