Default Fosgate Amp

I'm planning to get an amplifier from Rockford Fosgate. Which one should I get?

This: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_575P200...3&tp=115&avf=N

Or this: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_575P300...3&tp=115&avf=N

Which one would run cooler and would give out clean sound? I'm planning to mount the amp in the back of my trunk. Would that be okay? Is that going to make the amp hot? Please help out. Thanks.

BTW, it's for my factory ML subwoofer. That's what I'm aiming for.

Where do you guys mount your AMPS at?

If you are going through the hassles of running an amp you may as well just add a new sub. It will sound much better. And i would go with the second option.

You don't want to put that much more power to your stock sub. Like said before it would not sound right, too much is not always best. Also forget crotchfield....they are over priced.

Depending on the impedance of your factory ML woofer either amp will work fine.
The P200-2 will be optimized in a 4 ohm mono bridged configuration while the P300-1 will be optimized at a 2 ohm mono .

I talked with someone who I know that works extensively with RF, and is actually familiar with the car because of mine and he said that this is a bad idea no matter which amp you choose. The stock Nak/Nokia sub is not setup to have that much power going through it, nor is it going to be able to be controlled effectively by the amp once it gets out of it's gap (overexcursion due to overpowering). It's going to be a good way to blow the sub and smoke either amp, in other words.

You would do well to place a small molded enclosure up there with an aftermarket 10" in there if you are concerned about space. A good shop can fab something up for you that will work well. As to the price, I won't even speculate. I know that if I were doing it, you'd be looking to spend at least $500 for the labor and materials due to the fact that it's a tight fit and each one will need to be completely custom engineered.

If your heart is set on running an amplified (well, more amplified ) sub, get aftermarket - stock sucks.

I was going to get the Rockford Fosgate 2 channel amp because its cheaper than the mono. I'm planning to amp my stock subwoofer only. Any opinions?

Should I go with 4 ohm or 2 ohm? What's the difference?
