Default Problem-No sound at all!

Hey well i have absolutely no sound coming out of my speakers now. I was driving to a friend's house when a mid-high pop sound on the left side happened and then no sound was coming out of all the speakers after that. So i turned off the HeadUnit and turned it back on. The stereo worked again. Then once i got to school (25 min later) it started continually making the same pop sound. So i quickly turned off the stereo. At first i thought a speaker was blown but i didnt have the music up loud and it didnt smell in the car. After i turned it off then there is no more sound at all. Its been like this for about a week now and the head unit and everything appears to be working just like normal. Its just that there is no sound. I thought a fuse was blown but a fuse shouldnt have caused it to continually pop. Im thinking maybe blown amp or a short somewhere?? any help would be extremely great because the car is too quiet!! Oh by the way i drive a LS400 '91 and it is equipped with the premium sound system in case this makes a difference.
