Default JL 500/1 help??

The problem started last year, only happens in summer when the temp. go over 75 degrees the amp cuts off and check all the wirings it seems to be fine. My other 300/4 is working fine but the 500/1 having issues...

Any suggestions???

I bought this amp couple of years ago from woofersect.com and I don't think they're authorized JL vendor and that means no warranty I assume.

i'm guessing it's overheating and goes into protection mode.

u can either sell it and buy another amp

or

send it in to JL and get it fixed.

I'm not guessing. Troubleshoot it. Check the wiring to what you're running with it. How hard are you running it? I know it can do down to 1 ohm, but are you below that? 75° isn't anywhere near where that amp should be shutting down. Switch the wires between the amps. Maybe you have a bad fuse on the lead going to the amp, and it's a simple fix.

These are just a starting point.

Correction. 500/1's go from 1.5 to 4 ohms.

OP: What subs are you running? What ohm? How do you have them wired?
My old 500/1 did the same thing to me when I had the subs wired wrong, which could be causing your problem, not heat.

I was close. What's a half ohm between friends? Just kidding. I should have checked and not gone off memory. Either way, I think we're all thinking the wiring is the culprit, not the temps, going off this \/
