I did search a lot but dont really find an answer if nak and pioneer are PnP interchangable. i bought a 93 nak HU off ebay and here is the answer

just plug and play, the wiring harness is exactly the same, the only difference is the placement of plugs on the HU

sound quality is a world difference, Nak is worth OEM upgrading

So you just changed the OEM head unit and everything else is still original non-nak (Pioneer) and it works and sounds better?

You're VERY lucky in this case. Other models, such as the GS, will not have the same type of plugs and the wiring is completely different, even if the plugs fit.

The main difference in sound is usually the speakers. HU makes a BIT of difference, but the speakers are the weakest link.

that is a 90-92 nak you bought off ebay. 90-92 naks are interchangeable with 90-94 pioneer systems. 93-94 nak has different plugs. trust me i bought more HU's on ebay than anyone. having 3 ucf11's and 2 ucf10's with nak and pioneer from each helps.

Sad thing is my nak tape decks are now dying! they sound soo good with my ipod.

I think it looks pretty stock. Might get it and 4 new speakers. Got any suggestions guys?
