My son decided that the Mark Levinson sound system sounded so good that it would even sound better to turn up the base and volume up as high as it could go........till it blew!

Being that the car is a 2003 and technology continues to improve I was wanting to know if anyone has found a better rear subwoofer replacement that might be a little easier on the pocket book?

the problem with droping an aftermarket sub is the original ML 8" SUB is 8 Ohm.

Most aftermarket subs are 2 - 4 ohm

Not sure how they would sound on the stock amp.

And not sure of the durability since the 4 ohm subs will draw more current. The stock ML setup already has a reputation with blowing out amps.

I used hot glue to fix my blown sub on a 2002 GS430 with ML. It has worked like new for a month now, but i'll see how it holds up in the long run.
