6.5" speakers in the rear
I took my rear deck off to see what kind of speakers were in my car and found out that my rear speakers were some junky 4". I have an extra pair of 6.5" Alpine type R speakers and tried to fit them in the rear speaker hole. They were too big. Obviously I would have to make the hole larger, but how would like effect the car in terms of rattles and things like that? I know that the rear 4" speakers are mounted in an enclosure and I assume that is for sound deadening. Would just mounting the 6.5 speakers directly on the deck be a mistake?

I wish i had more pix, but to sum it up i made custom housings for the 6x9s out of hard foam and silicone. Came out pretty good if i say so myself. This is the only pic i have with the rear deck cover removed.

Here's what I did for my 6.5 in the rear. My buddy made an adapter plate to go over the stock hole. It was just big enough to lift/hold the speaker over the stock hole, but thin enough so that the stock deck would still go over it correctly.
