GS300 steering wheel audio control pod?

There should be at least one other connector in the steering wheel of the 02 GS300 for the "command module" of the optional "Lexus Dual-Mode Mobile Phone with Command Module and audio muting" that was available on the 02 GS300: http://www.lexus.com/cpo/model_library/GS/2002.html
Pop off the plastic blank and take a look.
As discussed in the recent thread about the 02 GS430, the installation of a dealer installed Lexus phone system substituted a phone control (command module) for the standard GS430 steering wheel audio control: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/lex...-question.html
Both the GS430 Lexus phone system command module and audio control both interface with the radio.
The 02 GS300 Lexus phone system command module would of course also have to interface with the radio system -- same as on the 02 GS430.
I'm wondering all the wiring is already in your 02 GS300 for the steering wheel audio control. I did a search, found others who have asked the exact same question but I didn't find any answers.
Even if the wiring is all there on your GS300, I don't know if installing/activating a steering wheel audio control module is "plug and play". I know that the 2003 Lexus phone system had a procedure for activating the steering phone command module after it was installed but I've never seen anything for the audio system control. Besides, the 2003 Lexus phone system was different than the systems used in the 2002 model year.
Do you happen to know anyone with an 01-02 GS430 who would be willing to remove his audio control and let you try it on your GS300? It should only take a few minutes. The phone command module on the steering wheel of my 00 LS400 is held in place by only one screw hidden behind a rubber plug and is easy to remove -- removing the audio control from a GS430 may be similar.

NemeGuero,
Take a look at the "FOR GS430 ONLY" document that I posted today: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/lex...ml#post4847843
The 01-02 GS phone system install instructions on the European Lexus tech website imply that the 6-pin connector in the GS steering wheel hub can only be used for a phone control ("command module") on the GS300. On the GS430, the six pin connector can be used for either a phone control or an audio control.
I suppose it is possible that the GS300 was shipped from the factory with the circuit for the 6-pin connector already in "phone mode" (since the GS300 didn't come with an audio control either here or in Europe) and that using an audio control is possible -- but that is probabably a big stretch of logic. To even try to toggle the circuit to "audio control" mode would require you to temporarially install a phone control on the steering wheel.
If you are willing to spend $10 for a day of access to https://techinfo.toyota.com you might find electrical diagrams that show whether the circuits on the GS430 and GS300 are the same. I sure wouldn't bet on them being the same. Toyota/Lexus has a pattern of leaving out every bit of technology it can to reduce manufacturing costs ... for example, you won't find seat heater wiring on cars that didn't come from the factory with seat heaters.

I wonder if anyone has ever gone through all the procedures to see if a GS430 audio control could be made to work on a GS300:
1) Install a phone command module on the steering wheel.
2) Perform the GS430 "Steering Wheel Switch Mode Setting" procedure to attempt to switch the 6-pin connector circuit from phone control mode to audio control mode.
3) Remove the phone command module
4) Install a GS430 audio control on the steering wheel.
To quote from the film "Animal House":
Bluto: Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!
Otter: Germans?
Boon: Forget it, he's rolling.
No, I think we have to go all out. I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part.
