Yeah, they are pretty good amps. What did you choose for your system so far?

Well I was going to get a Brax amp with a Velodyne sub to upgrade my Mark Levinson system. However, I can't seem to source the Velodyne sub that Percy recommended...anyone know where to get a new one?

I'm asking about the Harrison stuff cuz it's inexpensive (and I wanted to make sure they were good!) and I'm looking to install it on an upcoming project car...

Manaray,

Since when did you "turn" from Chef to the Godfather?

The "dark side" of the force is becoming strong in you...

Harrison Labs is inferior to BRAX, McIntoch, ARC, Zapco but its an ok amp...nothing fancy though.

Percy...hehehe, actually, Dex tossed out the idea...I just kinda ran with it...

Retro - Well I'm looking to keep this car within a very tight budget so I wanted to find a nice low cost amp that was of good quality...not trying to break any SPL records or anything, but I figure the standard "Lexus Premium" system could use some help...just want to change out the speakers, sub, and add a couple of amps to power it all...MAYBE do the head unit...not sure...

Does anyone have pictures of a CLEAN single or double DIN install in a SC300/400?

manaray I would give up on the velodyne subs, they are no longer made and if you find one it would probably cost you close to $500, If you want a nice clean setup I would go with a alumapro 10" with a zapco amp for SQ, now if you want SPL then thats a diffrent story. If you dont like zapco, then look into PPI, or ARC. You dont want to get a nice subwoofer just to put a bad amp on it.

I would also recommend using www.buyload.com, I had some trouble with them at first, but then they made me offers that were amazing ( 12" eclipse 88000DVC for $200 ) and there shipment was quick. As for amps I would look for them on E-bay there are just soo many for real good prices

They're worth hunting for. At 500, it's considered THE best deal for a TRUE SQ sub you'll ever get. Don't run Zapco with the Vels...they say it in the manual. Reason is due to the lack of low end extension...it HAS to have at least 10hz. Vel tried this also in their application and the Zapco just don't cut it. (They're good amps...but they won't do it for Vel).

Manaray/Godfather...have you tried calling Vel directly? Their parts dept should have controllers and drivers still in stock.

Thanks for the suggestions...for $500, I'll look for a Velodyne! Percy, I'll try hitting them up...

I am looking for a QUALITY, LOW COST sub/speaker/amp setup for the 2nd project car...any suggestions?

I would like to spend as little as possible as I'm trying to hit a price goal here...but I don't want *****...don't need "competition" level stuff, just something that's better than the stock "premium" sound system (that should be easy! )

Both the one on Ebay and the one pictured are HOME subs. Paper cones, servo controlled...and can't really be adapted to car audio. The only ones used for car audio are the DF12sc or the DF10sc.

Thanks for the effort Biggie...but it looks like my search continues...trying to do two different cars at one time is hard...maybe I should do the "beater" first since it has the "Premium" sound system....at the ML system in the GS430 is pretty good...the one in the SC just BLOWS CHUNKS with "my" music...
