Default installing 6.5 components all around

so yesterday.. i took my car to fry's electronics where my friends work.. and i got inifinity components 6.5s for the front and rear.. i had baught the adapter plate off ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/6-Spe...CarQ5fSpeakers , the funny thing is that its suppose to be a direct bolt on.. but it doesn't fit lol.. but the good part was that.. we were able to seperate the adapter together to make the front's 6 1/2 and a adapter plate for the rear to mount the components.. i also took out the stock sub.. which was ripped and broken already... it was a pretty good install.. im just curious if n e one has changed there speakers in there cars? what's everyone's setup!!!!?? ima post up some pics of the install when i can

why would you put components in the rear?

When I had my SC300, I had 5.25 separates in the front door, 6.5 coaxials in the rear deck and a 12" sub box in the trunk. I created an amp rack where the stock cd changer and amp was located. I had an Alpine MP3 head unit and and a Pioneer DSP/EQ filling the double din area on the front console therefore didn't need to fabricate a mounting kit.
Since the front doors originally came with 4" speakers, I had to cut the enclosure and fabricate my own mounting plates to fit the 5.25 speakers. I had to adjust the speaker mounts several times so that the speaker had enough clearance to close door panel. The end product looked good and the sound was lots better than stock. Well worth the effort.

I just got a 93 SC400 and am in process of changing the sounds as well. Where'd you get the adapters for the rear? I got some polk 4" to replace the rears for now but may up to 6.5". I don't see them on that Ebay site. Also, for the sub, are you using the existing amp? I just put a Kenwood X693 hu in and they had to bypass the amp because of engine noise, but I'm thinking I could use the existing amp to power the new sub I get?

here are some pics of the install, not the best pics since there from my camera, the pics of are the speakers installed using the adapter, we actually took apart the top mounts of the adapter and used them to mount on the rear, it wasn't that much hard work, we also mounted the cross overs in the rear as u can see.. i also took out the stock sub since they were already blown, and it actually bumps louder now since theres a hole from the trunk into the car now

Does the rear deck cover still fit with the rear speakers raised like that?
