Exclamation Calling all audio techs and experts!!!

Hey guys, i own two logitech subwoofer systems that are 310 watts rms. I have seen many audio systems from alpine to other brands for my lexus IS 250 AWD and i can proudly say i would prefer this logitech subwoofer. The dual chamber design is unbelievable in terms of power. So my question is if there is any way to hookup this sub woofer to my IS while the stock sub is disconnected? thanks alot guys

I am making an assumption that you are referring to the Logitech company that manufactures Home/PC speaker systems.

Yes, it would be theoritically possible to use it in your IS but you would first need to add a power inverter to allow the powered subwoofer to receive the 110v it requires to run. Automobiles run on a 12v power supply.

Next, while the drivers may sound great in a home environment, I am not as sure that you will be as pleased with the performance in a car audio setup. I'm fairly confident that if just looking for some bass to be added to the system that you would be more satisfied with true mobile audio products.

hmmm yea you are right, i am also thinking of utilizing pioneer's ultra thin (3 inch thick) free air woofers for some extra kick. 110v is alot of power wow!

You may also want to look at Aura bass shakers. They give impact to your bass, but are not transducers. They mount to the bottom of the seat to move your *** when the bass hits. Pretty neat little devices, and they do make the bass seem more "real."

$5 from amazon. They're just little things that plug into your cig lighter and have outlets on the backside.

That particular item wont work. It would be something more in the lines of this:

depending upon the wattage required they run from about $30 up to about $500. We had to put a 3000 watt inverter in one car I did. Ran around $400 from Home Depot if I remember correctly. Needed it to power a 27" flat panel, a Wii, a PS3, a smoke generator, and to supply power to 4 110v outlets we incorporated into the build for additional external add ons the customer might use at shows.

just an example. you don't think it'd be enough for a computer sub?

It might. Unfortunately I'm an "overkill" guy. I like to add more than necessary in order to have the availablilty later down the road. I would feel more comfortable though using a small (ie 100-200 watt) inverter as opposed the cigarette lighter style.

Let me be the first to say, don't use home subwoofers and speakers in a car environment.

The tuning is different for a computer room vs. a car. The cabin gain is different. Hell we're talking a difference between 12v DC and 120v AC.

If you want good sound in a car, you can follow solid principles to get there.
