Default Question about aftermarket radio

I just bought a Pioneer AVH-P3100DVD double-din radio for my 94 SC300. I also purchased a Metra 70-1761 wiring harness and a Metra 95-8157B double-din dash kit. My question is, do I need an antenna adapter to be able to use the radio on the new aftermarket headunit? If so, does anyone have the part number by any chance? I'm just trying to get everything I need to install this as soon as possible.

I really dont think you need a antenna adapter. If my memery serves me right, the factory Nak has both small and big style antenna hookup. You can simply use the big one and plug it straight in to the radio. Someone vouch for this info. Its been awhile since I have had mine out.

Well, keep in mind though, I have the base model factory headunit. I have the headunit that doesn't have a CD changer and there is no CD button option on my factory radio. All I have is AM, FM1, FM2, and TAPE buttons. My car also did not come with a CD changer so I dunno. So it may be different from the factory headunits that had the CD changers and the ones that didn't have them. I'm not sure can you or anyone else clarify this?

I just don't want to buy an antenna adapter if I don't need one.

Yea like most Toyota that i have seen there is a small antenna adapter and a big one, factory uses both, gives better pickup of signal, (one in rear defrost im told) and standard mounted one. i have seen a install where they took a small to large antenna adapter, and a 2 prong y and used both.

Just using the one, you will get FM, just not the greatest.

So would you guys recommend an antenna adapter? If so, what is the part number/manufacturer info?

I did not put one in when i did either of my 2 cars because

A) FM is kinda crappy anyway.
2) FM sound quality is never as good as a CD
C) Sat Radio is much better IMO
$) If living in a big city can get a HD Radio module for that headunit and have better than FM

Yes i know my numbers are off, but you still will read it !
