Anyone know why Mark Levinson isn't (readily) available on the 2010 HS 250h?
Does anyone know why, despite it being described as an available option in all of Lexus' online information, the Mark Levinson stereo system is not available in the US?
(I'm specifically interested in the 2010 HS 250h).
I tried "building my Lexus" at www.Lexus.com and in doing so I found that the Mark Levinson stereo upgrade doesn't show up as an available option. I emailed Lexus and I got back a response about how they do "market research" to determine what option packages will be popular.
I'm just sort of baffled why, on a nearly $50,000 automobile that has every techno-gizmo in the world, Lexus has determined that the high-end stereo isn't wanted. (I'm guessing a car can be special ordered with it, but still, it's bizarre...)
Just curious if anyone wants to offer their commentary on this...

Perhaps because of this:
They may not consider the Levinson an upgrade, and you have to keep in mind that it's a hybrid - it needs to save as much juice as possible to be as energy efficient as possible. Adding an amp adds weight (even if it's small), and drawing more juice = fewer miles per charge.

its just a gussied up prius so the larger mark levinson amps and speakers dont fit in the places the prius amps and speakers fit. so they probably are using the jbl stuff from the prius.
