But if you want really top of the line, beltronics sti-r will do it, but that one is just north of $1200.

I have the Passport 9500ix... I love the thing. Especially because i live in phoenix az and they are super radar crazy..... there are speed cams everywhere....
I recommend it.

The older 8500, is old technology, but will still work.

I got the Escort 8500 x-50 and it works very well. My friends sometimes ask me why my radar doesn't go off when a cop is nearby, but I tell em that it's because they don't have their radars on. So there is nothing to detect! Or am I wrong?! Hahaha. Anyways. It's saved my butt a lot of times!

If you want the BEST detector, that will give you the earliest warning, you would want the Escort Redline. I personally prefer the 9500 because it has GPS lockout. This will allows you to lock out false signals. The 9500 will only go off when the man is around. False alarms are the biggest PITA. The V1 is a great detector but it falses way too much.

I have a V1 and overall am pretty happy with it but I knew what to expect with the falses. Driving around town, you will definitely get overalerted but there are ways you can automute certain likely falses (such as K band alerts below a certain strength). You WILL still get falses.
The arrows are pretty handy and have saved me in PA when a trooper was hiding in the shadow of a highway decoy and I would have assumed it was the decoy I just passed had I not seen the arrow pointing ahead
I do often wish I had the gps feature that the passports have. on the various reports online, there has been a fair amount written about certain sources being of questionable objectivity. One in particular has been rumored to be on Bel/Escort payroll. I get the sense that Guys of LIDAR are among the more objective.
Like others have said, all 3 are very good. If you live in high false areas and that would annoy you, get the passport. If you plan on using it on the highway, the arrows are very helpful and the V1 has no real disadvantages on the highway

I am another one of the V1 owners. Very satisfied, and the awesome sensitivity/range saved me from few tickets, even from the ones holding radar guns (they're the tricky ones...). It came in really handy especially in my area where there are quite few cops that uses the "instant on" methodology, and my V1 was able to pick up that signal from a good distance. Having said that, I will continue to be a safe driver, watch my speed, and hope that I won't have to deal with tickets going forward...
