Default Need help, where is the remote turn on wire on factory headunit or amp?

Need help locating or work around solution to turn on my PPI amp.

I know there is a mute signal on the factory amp that generate a 5V signal with 1/2 sec delay from the time you turn on your stock headunit.

I can use this to trigger a relay and get a 12V turn-on signal out of that. But is there a more obvious signal from the amp or headunit that allow me to do this w/o delay or relay?

I have the shematics, I don't see anything else. Does anyone know? I think the factory amp always ON even the headunit is not? or how does it get turn on?

Worst case, i can open the factory headunit out and tap into the display signal, use that as my turn on signal, but I am trying to avoid this.

Thanks.
Anh

Default sorry, but off the topic.

i was looking at you DIY page, and about your front polk components.
i put components in my door also, but there was a seperate lead for the tweets and woofer. is the GS like that also?
i'd like to know cause i ended up not using the crossover that came with the speakers.

i wish i knew about a remote to use when you turn the HU on. i used a regular accessory line for my amp, and when i turn off my HU, i get MAD feedback. oh well.

speaker lines from the headunit (2wire/speaker) going into the crossover, 2 pair of wires going out off the crossover (1 pair is for the speaker, 1 pair is for the tweeter) you WILL need the crossover component, or it will mess up sound quality and speaker impedent (load). see picture.

also, you have 2 set of wires, 1 for tweeter and and 1 for speaker in your car ==> they are the same set, only 1 pair comming from the head unit, so ignore the factory tweeter wire and just use the woofer wires for you crossover, wire it to the tweeter yourself.

The polk component speakers need more power to play efficently, I always have to turn up my volume, now I got a 5 Channel PPI amp PCX 5800 (50Wx4, (200Wx1 at 4 ohms=>400x1 at 2ohm)

I will be pushing some serious power into these speakers now, I have not wire up everything yet, but soon, will find out. I just need to find that turn on wire.
