6 or 7-Channel Amplifier
Man, is it hard to shop for these things without going over 1000 bucks!!!
anywho, i'm looking for a GOOD 6/7-channel amplifier, So far i'm only sold on the JL Audio G6600 amplifier....
Having a 7th Channel (for a subwoofer) would be awesome, save myself a lot of wiring and hassle. Any help's appreciated, thanks!

PDX 150 or something like that, is a tiny little amp. (this is what I will purchase to sit next to my PRS)
150wrms per channel. get two of these and stack them and bridge the other channel for the amp. Then you'll have 6 channels at 150 wrms and the 7th at 300rms.
They also have 5 channel but 75wrms by 4 and 1 channel at ??? rms.

hmm... that's not a bad idea, BUT these amps were made for A/B stereo, not actual class D, it's just got a class D engine, you sure it'll be good enough for a sub on the 3rd and 4th channel of the 2nd amp? i actually kind of see myself getting an extra set of tweeters for that setup

I'm not sure you read the spec correctly. Here is the link to the factory.
http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/pdx-4150/
Overview
Class-D ( 4/3/2 channel)
1/2 Channel Operation
Stackable Installation Design
RMS Power (at 14.4V @1%THD+N, 20-20kHz)
Per channel into 2 ohms : 150W x 4
Per channel into 4 ohms : 150W x 4
Bridged 4 ohms: 300W x 2
More Power, Better Sound
PDX amplifiers deliver outstanding sound quality. The revolutionary design of the PDX incorporates improved feedback circuitry and power supply filtering system, plus a damping factor that is 350% better than Class A/B amps.
many review said it's underated.
I want one of these, saw one on ebay for 230 and didn't grab one (used)..ugh!
And if you are talking about the sub running full range, I'm sure these is a Low pass filter for the channel you want to bridge into your sub (double check because all new amps have'm).

hmm yeah i read up on it, i heard they're spectacular amplifiers, and they're tiny too! which is really impressive, and from what you're telling me, i'm more and more sold on it haha.... anywho, 150 watt tweeters yes, i can manage that
low pass filter can never make it like a class D IMO.... for some reason i've just never really liked that idea, i've tried both setups and the class D is cleaner and sharper bass vs the A/B w/ low-pass filter... but maybe it's just my ears?

check out some boston acoustics - http://mobile.bostonacoustics.com/ca...product_id=468
love their speakers - i currently am debating on replacing my ML with the pro's, and am swapping the subs this weekend. not certain about their amps however. the one listed is a 5 channel. 4x100 and 1x400 at 2 ohms. if you wire correctly, you can continue to use the stock amp to push your 'surround/fill' speakers. probably what i will end up doing, if i decide to replace the doors...i will let you know how it goes should i decide to do that.

i had a set of boston, they were good but i got 2 sets of MB Quart components for 110ea... i hear everyone raving about'em, and 110 is sure a hell of a lot cheaper than 330 or 599
as for amp, i decided to go with the JL audio G6600, $279 before shipping, crazy deal IMO

damn skippy! 110 is cheap as hell for MB Quart. i paid 270 a pair for my boston pro's, and that was a steal. at the time, they were retailing for 599. great price for the JL as well; good product. my install is tomorrow; needless to say i am excited. lol. actually found a way to retain the ML processing and still install aftermarket without a processor. we were able to get the wiring schematic for the car - all 28pages - lol...and this LOOKS like it will be very easy. of course, that probably means it will take all weekend. lol. if i decide to install the pro's and not just the subs, i will retain the stock amplification on the dash speakers and door tweets. way too much involved in swapping those out. i am a bit concerned with sound matching, but the boston's are very sterile, so i am thinking they would blend well. good luck with your install; if you need anything shoot me a PM and i will help as i can.
