My 1998 changer would not load CD's. I took it apart and found a nylon bushing and a stainless pin had come off the arm which sweeps past the pinch rollers. I reinstalled the nylon bushing on the arm of the "sweeper" and secured it by bending up one of the arms. Then I tried to run it with the pin but it jammed. So I replaced the pin with a brass screw that is 1/8" shorter than the pin. It did not jam and the unit now works perfectly.

Go to ebay and try and find a good unit! I had to do that eventually... Also try www.billystoyotaparts.com . I've bought parts from him in the past when I had my SC.

i recommend to install a 1996 es300 changer made by pioneer. it is a pioneer 3rd genration 6 disc changer so has all the problems worked out. it rarely skips and plays burnt cds well. it is plug in and play but needsd some mod to install in place of the 12 disc..................................................................... the 12 disc is a 1989 panasonic design nothing to do with pioneer company. it has all the problems at making a car cd changer for the first time in 1989 so has all the problems of first year products. pioneer had been making laser cd disc movie players since 1984 and home burners since 1988 so knew much more than any other company on how to make cd players play burnt cds. panasonic, alpine and kenwood etc didnt have a clue even what burnt cds were when they were designing there units in 1989. as usual the best of all the cd changers went into the cheapest lexus the es300. today the most expensive lexus navigation system comes in the es350. go figure.
