Stock radio won't stay on after alarm was triggered, lights flash, no sound...
Just bought my 1993 Lexus GS300 , the previous owner tells me that the original key with the keyless entry was lost years ago, the battery died and the alarm was triggered when the new battery was installed. After this the radio has never worked.
I noticed that when the car is first started the lights on the stereo would flash for a few minutes then stop. I tried pushing the power button, it would come on for a split second then shut off.
I called the dealership and spoke to the Service Foreman, he asked if the screen showed "SEC", it doesn't, he was baffled.
I called Pioneer and they told me that it may be a board failure and would HAVE to call Lexus for further support.
Anyone have an idea what's up with my stereo? I wonder if there is some sort of security issue as I no longer have the original key, I have a copy made at a Lexus dealer. Maybe there is some sort of circuit protector that is shutting the unit off because of a short somewhere, maybe even at the amp or CD changer in the trunk?
I've searched all over google and all over these forums and other Lexus forums... HELP fellow Lexus brethren!!
