Just purchased a used 2007 LS460 with NAV/ML. Love the car, but the stereo has a few issues, including:
1. Hard drive is useless, can only record CD's, got rid of CD's years ago
2. No ipod controls
3. Poor reproducibility of my DVD-A tracks (doesn't correctly process PPCM surround sound tracks)

Looking for an upgrade that will help these issues. Anyone have the 6 gen system? I understand that it uses all digital amplifiers and has USB input. I assume ipod can be controlled through Nav and steering wheel.

My question is does the new system have any parts in common with my current ML stereo where I could "upgrade" some components, or would I have to replace my whole system (which I would not do). May consider the VAIS system, but it doesn't help my DVD-A issues (I don't think).

Any thoughts out there?

The new system (Vias) is integrated through your stock audio system. As far as upgrading you system that is not needed, just replace the parts that have issues with them or you can just go with the Vias system and just use your ipod which is integrated with your LS's audio controls. Thats what I would do bud

Ordered the Vaid iPod connector and the prestigious society NAV override. Should improve things immensely. Now if it only had decent speech recognition it would be worth what I paid for it!

Is the speech recognition not that sensitive?
