okay so i'm gonna go with your guys' recommendation on removing the stock sub to allow bass from my sealed box to enter the cabin. problem is, i went out to do it, and gave up in 10 minutes. what's the easiest way to remove the sub?

I never checked, but if the grill is removable then you can unbolt the sub as the bolts are only accessible from the top, not from under the trunk.
If you can't remove the grill, then the only way is to remove back and bottom seats, un-bolt the seat belts, take out the 3rd brake light assembly and then remove the thin wood rear deck that also holds the sub grill.
I've taken this all apart myself before, but I never tried to remove just the sub grill. One caution is knowing the proper method to remove the seat belts from the retainer clips. If you are willing to go this far, let me know and I'll provide that information.
Someone else should know that answer if just the grill comes off. Please don't try to take off the grill and risk breaking it on my account.

Hopefully he gets to the electronics forum where there are more details including THE BOOK from Percy. Can't just take the grill off and it isn't a ten minute job. Basically do have to get the seats and trim out before you can take the rear deck off and then cut the membrane to access the bolts and take the sub out.

I had mine done by a stereo shop. They charged me $25 to remove and replace the stock sub with a kicker free air. I know that they did have to remove the back seat and rear deck panel to do the job. The screen however is removable from under the rear deck. It has round washer type clips. Just be careful not to break the pegs on the grille...... as it will cost you $110 to replace the grille.....
