Digikey has them.

They've been renamed to OPA2604. I usually refer to them as the BB2604. Very surprised that Mc started using the JRC stuff.

The op amps are surface mount. To remove the current ones, just take a small pair of cutters that can get into the spacing of the leads. Clip them off. Use a hot soldering iron to remove the rest. To put on the new ones, use a piece of tape across the longer dimension of the chip. Position the chip into place (use clear tape) and then solder 4 of the leads. Once when these are soldered, remove the tape and solder the other 4 leads.

There are other dual op amp packages on the market. You might want to research the better sounding ones.

Take some good close up pics of the boards and chips. I'll let you know which ones.

Those don't look like signal path op amps. If you take the RCA jacks and follow them inward, where do they lead to?

Cnet commander came in and works great controlling the ipod on my McIntosh! Unfortunately it doesn't come with a cnet cable so I had to make one for now and order one off ebay with speedy shipping while this "fix" holds me over.

Cool! Didn't know they made it for the ipod.

Are you still going to mod out the op amps? With the ipod as the main source feed, it won't make much of a difference.

I'm only using the iPod for storing box sets so I don't have to keep flipping CD's. Will be modding the OP amps when things slow back down again.

OH HAI!

Looks like I am about ready for my build log. My Focals just got here. I made a price V/S performance decision on the mids for this build.
