High end Audio and Video installer in LA?
Hi all,
I just got a Lexus GS400 with navigation! Now I want to upgrade the stock sound system to something better, the stock audio system isn't the best...
The things I'm after is quality. I heard Dynaudio make good drivers, their home audio speakers are GREAT! Also, people recommend dampening the car, with Dynamat and similar products. I'd also like to do that.
Can someone recommend a good audio installer in the LA area to do this? My budget is anywhere from $1-2k. I know a little about home audio and home theater, but NOTHING about car audio!
Also, I'd like to wire a video camera into the front and rear bumper of my navigation system to to help during parallel parking. Also, I'd like to wire a TV tuner to the navigation screen, and external AV inputs and outputs so I can hookup a portable DVD player or game system inside the car. Would the audio/video installer be able to do this also? Or should I look for a specialist to do this? Can someone recommend one in the LA area? Thanks!

Any installer closer to Santa Monica or Pasadena?
These places look great, but they are all so far! Especially the ones in the valley, I'd have to take the 405 north during RUSH HOUR to get there!
Is there any stereo places that are good, as in they install IASCA competing stereo systems, near Santa Monica or Pasadena? Thanks!

They have a shop in Santa Monica. I forgot it if was on Santa Monica or Wilshire. They did a good job with my old car and I believe they're a Dynaudio dealer.

For all of that video stuff you are talking about, you will spend way more than a couple g's.
Sounds Good Stereo did a great job on the President of Alpine Electronics' E430 Benz, they siliconed EVERYTHING into the car. Never seen anything like that in my life, especially for how much cash they paid the shop to do the work. Oh well maybe the 37 tubes of silicone were expensive?! Even the board that the amps were mounted on were siliconed to the gas tank. I just helped them redo that whole car down there at Alpine, it's a pretty nice little system now, but I'd stay away from Sounds Good...FAR away.
Automotive Entertainment...fixed quite a few cars from there too. It's pretty sad that there isn't really anyone out here that is capable of not screwing up your car.

"silicone"?
Initially, I couldn't tell if were being sarcastic or not, since silicone is a good sealant. And if you had to attach something to a gas tank, it's not a good idea to drill holes into the tank and use sheet metal screws- so you need to use an adhesive, anyway.
I'm suprised that the President of Alpine would pay them so much money and then drive off. Did he get what he deserved, or was he too rich to care?
Just wondering..... - Perry

Ok...basically in plain text...the job was BAD. If you think it's ok to glue an amp rack to a gas tank with silicone, then go ahead and go there.
Anyone who has half a brain would try to figure some way to mount it with brackets to some other area in the trunk, not the gas tank itself.
They got the job, basically slammed the install and tried to cover up their shoddy workmanship, but once the system was torn back down the truth came out. Of course, they'll never get another job from them again. Just goes to show that most shops are not capable of doing anything good nowdays, even on a car that should have been their #1 effort.
Just think how your car would get treated if you went there, if that's what that guy got...
