I have a viper alarm remote car starter and when I lock the doors it beeps the horn, is there a way to change it to flash the lights or something other than beep the horn, not very good when I get in late and the horn beeps.

We have the Viper Smart Start on a Nissan Maxima and using the iPhone there doesn't seem to be a way to not get the horn.

Using the Viper key fob, we have the fob locked so "Function" then "Unlock" turns on the key fob and then "Function" then "Unlock" again unlocks the doors without the horn.

We've tried using the "no horn" settings in the car, but that doesn't work.

Again, this is on Nissan and not a Lexus. Plus we haven't tried returning to the installer to see if he can change any settings.

thanks for the info
Yes I bought this car used and I'm hoping I can change it over to flash the lights or do nothing when unlocking and locking.
The horn just isn't going to cut it.

Here is a link for the installation manual for a model 5101 Viper remote start/keyless entry unit. (I don't know what you have installed).

Page 43 begins the programming menus. Within that section it allows for the disabling of the horn function for lock/unlock.

If you do not have model 5101 let me know and I will get you the instructions for your model.

Regardless, there is a programming option to allow for silent lock/unlock on all DEI products.

Too bad you're not closer to NJ!!! I could have taken car of it for you Free O' Charge at one of our NELOC Grease Truck Meets!!!!

I don't see the link in your post..

How do I know which viper I have?

The remote I have has 4 buttons.
A locked pad lock top left
unlocked pad lock top right
AUX button bottom left
A yellow button bottom right with a star on it
(thats the one that remote starts the car.)

I called an alarm install place and they said I would have to pull the black box thats installed in the car to to change the settings to get rid of the horn when locking...
