i was on amazon looking at metra install kits but this was one of the items that people buy when buy the kit

so i was wondering do i need that harness for an aftermarket radio to work because i already have the other adapter harness

basically do i need the harness in the first link or not.

I haven't done an older SC in a while so I don't recall exactly, but I'm pretty confident they had both Pioneer and Nakamichi systems back then. If you have the Pioneer system, the standard Toyota harness (1761) will work. If you have the Nakamichi system, you should need the 8112.

Really the easiest way to check if you really can't determine which system you have is to the pull the radio out and look at the plugs. The amplified harness has one plug to wire up, whereas the regular Toyota harness will have two.

 

i have the pioneer system so ill be using the 1761 then.
