Default *** Non Free-Air Subwoofer On Rear Deck, Experience?

I'm thinking about using a 10" non free-air subwoofer to replace the stock 10" subwoofer on the rear deck. I know it's required to have a free-air subwoofer for the best sound, but I'd like to ask if any of you has used non free-air subwoofer with great success. I'm looking for experiences with that setup. Thanks.

you then should reinforce the rear deck for the added weight. and you might as well slap a box around the sub. a genuine free-air would need the trunk truely sealed from the cabin for it to sound correct. So if you stick a reg sub in there, i think you should at least attach a box to the underside of it.

I'm going to use a piece of mdf, and dynomatting the rear deck and behind the rear seats
jist ordered the 10" jl, can't wait for it to come in.
Deejay: box is not an option in the sc because of the gas tank.
Will let you guys know how it sounds once I get it installed in a week time

I have a pioneer 300w non-free air sub and to tell you the truth, im in love. Clear, crisp booms and rumbles inside and the air movement in the trunk makes a awsome vibration through the whole car. I absolutely love it.

I've heard a few guys say that when replacing the rear deck with another sub sounds great. I just don't buy it. I'm a bass head and i thought about trying it but felt like it wasn't going to satisfy me. Maybe those guy haven't really heard good bass.

Can you take some pictures please? I am planning to upgrade my system as well or just a little better bass kick. Which amp are you using? Are you also running a head unit or are you using stock?

Besides the vibration, does it sound as good as with the box (supposed to have the box)?
