Yes, you will need to pick one up and a DVD player.

I don't see why not. But where you're gonna put the P7 and the GEX. If you put the P7 in the dash and the GEX in the trunk, you will need to run the video cable out from the P7 all the way to the trunk.

You can't use a Pioneer SDV-P7 or DVH-P7000 to get Dolby Digital/dts (5.1) alone. They have optical digital output jacks that hook up to a decoder or Dolby Digital compatible amplifier (special note: Pioneer optical digital output is not Toslink, it's a 4 pin plug so that limits you to a Pioneer only decoder/amp).

In fact you can't use the GEX-P7000TV's FM modulator for stereo sound on your factory system when a SDV-P7 is connected to the GEX's IP-bus input. There are switchs on the back of the SDV and GEX that turn the units from Stand Alone/FM Modulator to IP-Bus/IP-Bus Master operation. So, there is no real benefit of having a Pioneer DVD player when using it with the GEX-P7000TV anyways.

Thanks Video Navi for the info. I don't know much about the P7. I thought it have the RCA connector, but I guess not. Sorry for the misinfo.

VideoNav -

Is there a way to use the IP-Bus on the GEX and also force the GEX to use the FM-Modulator (via a jumper wire, etc.).

If not, are most people typically feeding the GEX audio into their stock stereo via the cd-changer inputs (with aftermarket cables)?

thanks

i have an Acura CL Type S and i'm planning on having the dvd player...whatever brand i go with...in the center console for i can control it from there. but reading the post from others, i may as well get a cheaper dvd player and get the same results. i was thinking since both are pioneer units, it would be pretty much plug-n-play and everything would work better running through my factory system.

this will be my first mod to my car so i want it as clean as possible...and then i will start changing out my stock speakers, running my 6-chan amp and passive eq.

He just moved to the new office bluiding last week( at his full time job). When we worked on this thing about 5-6 months ago sometimes it took about a week before he e-mail me. His new house don't have high speed internet server around that area and I'm sure his e-mail will be flooding from us. He doing this as part time , please give him sometimes to get back with all of you.
