ive been in the market for a DDIN and was offered by a shop to do a ddin install of an avic z120bt along with carson kit, wire harness, bracket, etc. for 1000 even.
is this a good deal?
im between the borderline of getting a DDIN thats so expensive, for those of you who have the z120bt is it really worth it?
Thanks.

dude hell yeah thats a good deal...i've been researching the Avics for the gs as well and i'm actually looking at the 920 unit since i'm not trying to spend a G on a nav unit alone. The z120 has A few things over a 920bt and the main thing is HD radio built in. IF a shop offered me such deal i would be all over it.

z130bt has the HD radio built in.
that was my reasoning too, i was considering if it was really worth spending that much on a DDIN but sometimes my philosophy is if you are going to buy something might as well buy the BEST thats out.
main thing thats holding me back is are the extra options really worth the extra couple hundred (the perk of the 7" screen isnt bad either)

that a good deal. the deck alone is worth about 900, the jdm dash kit is about 50, harness is about 10-15, plus installation. For the GS, installation is not that bad, but they'll have to bypass the amp. If you can do the install yourself and shop around, you can find the deck as low as 750-800. ( Haven't seen the price for awhile, but I've seen it in the past.) Overall for 1000, it a really good deal, especially since it includes installation. I'm assuming this is a legit shop, where they have warranty on the part and service.

^ you are correct it is indeed a legit shop
they offer 1 year warranty on everything they do and while I feel like I could easily take apart the dash (I have before) I dont want to deal with the bypass or anything like that.
The deck right now is around 750-800 if I was to buy it without the installation or harness etc.
guess major concern now is just which HEADUNIT to use

which headunit where you considering? I've had couple pioneer double din deck and been pretty happy with them. I currently have the x920bt and will be replacing it once the new alpine model comes out in couple months.

Pioneer decks are okay, plus I was never completely satisfied with it, and the new series aren't hackable. The GPS navigation is horrible ever since they went with their own gps program. The x920bt and other pioneer deck have problem when used a hid relay harness and the user interface is not the best. I've used the z120 before and I wasn't really happy with it. I'm currently waiting for the alpine INA-W910BT.

and their GUI is known to be the easiest to use out of all the headunits.

The GPS is horrible, route that I know that should be 10 min, ends up being 15 min or more because it rather take me through 10 extra turns instead of going straight. It good if i travel long distance such as out of state, but anything 10-20 min within the city is horrible. The older model pioneer double din, were hackable meaning that you can customize them. To me the GUI can be better, the shortcut menu screen is more of a hassle then a benefit. I've used kenwood and alpine decks and prefer them, but it personal preference.
