Just installed new HU but making noise?
Hey guys,
I just swaped out my stock HU for an aftermarket Pioneer. But now for some reason when ever I put the sound to "0" I can hear the system is still on(I can give the car gas and hear the reving through the speaker system). Idk if its cause the Ground wire isnt secure enough or what? Or maybe its my head unit it self

It's not grounded properly. Check ur ground connection and it should go away. If not, try simply attaching a wire from the heahunit itself to a ground location. That should take care of it (unless you have a bigger problem)..

From what I've been told, it's caused by the factory amp. You either have to bypass the amp or get aftermarket speakers with an amp. I've got a Pioneer and it makes that same sound except it does it at all volumes. There was a thread on bypassing the amp, but it seems easier to get new speakers and an amp.

i dunno if this is the problem ur having but sometimes u get interference when u run ur power and rca cables along side eachother. in other words, it better to run ur battery and acc. cable thru drivers side and rca thru passenger side. but deffinetly sounds like a ground problem. did u sand down the peice of metal u attatched ur ground too?

Get a couple of Ground Loop Isolators and install them off the wire-harness going to the factory system. It will get rid of the noise and you get to keep the factory amp. I had this same problem with my '98 ES300 when installing an Alpine W205. Had this wicked bad alt. whine - installed 2 GLI's and problem was solved.
These don't cost anymore than $10 each.......

what did you try to fix it? sometimes when the engine is grounded to the same ground you are using then it makes that whining noise. maybe try grounding it in a few different spots? dont know about the factory amp, never had that exact problem before.

Remedy:
1. do not use factory ground wire, make a new one with a decent gauge wire. (bigger the better).
2. GLI (Ground loop isolators*works wonders*) for each set of channels
I bypassed the factory amp and used a new 1. it is caused by all amps.
Even with a good ground, and GLIs, you still may have a slight sound. I know I do. Lexus is a ***** to ground, and Pioneer is a ***** to ground. ME and YOU my friend, have ONE BIG *****!
