Torx screws, one-way screws etc. do act as deterrents. Master theives will have Torx head drivers or even drill outs to steal your stuff ... there's really nothing you CAN do short of making more difficult.
I've used these http://www.countycomm.com/ring.html to anchor the back of the headunit to a part of the metal frame behind the dash. If they get pissed and destroy it or the car at least they don't get anything out of it and/or waste so much time that they get busted.

I have a smart start system. My alarm in the car is silent...
There is a reason I carry a CC on my hip as well.
Lastly, I have 20% the entire front windshield and limo tint all other windows. My car sticks out like a sore thumb becuase of the extremely dark tint. So theives know I'm hiding something.
I live a boring life (mainly cause I'm married now) so I encourage them to set off my silent alarm that pages my cell phone.
I make it a point to never be farther then 2 minutes away from my vehicle.
When we go to the mall we take my wifes car.
For the paranoid that don't want to shoot someone in the leg as badly as I do, I encourage getting some whelen hideaway LED wig wag lights that are tied into your parking lights that way they'll visually flash red/and blue which will catch major attention from all around. For the wealthy, just get a IP cam that records on a 2 hour loop to a spare hard drive at your home (or the cloud) and mount the "eye" of the IP cam some place on the dash or a pillar that is hard to see. There are companies that color match the eye lens to any color you wish. Along with making very small IP cams for applications such as this one.
All you need is a transmission point. But that could be something as easy as Verizon Wireless' MIFI card hidden under a seat, trunk, carpet, headliner, anywhere really.

Please don't encourage people to do stupid things like shoot someone over a vehicle. Unless they are holding a gun or driving the vehicle toward you, you're going to jail for it, then it doesn't really matter how nice the car is or what you had in it. Responsible gun ownership requires knowing the laws, and I encourage anyone reading this drivel to learn your state's rules regarding the usage of a firearm. Carrying doesn't give anyone carte blanche.
