Default Retrofiting a 98 LS400 with stock Nav?

I have a 98 LS400 that came from the factory without the nav sys. I was wondering what would be involved with a retrofit using the stock Lexus screen....etc?

its a wiring harness problem. just like stereo systems its difficult to switch systems because the car is wired at the factory with a 2 inch diameter wiring harness. there arnt seperate wiring harness to cd changer or the nav computer you have to rewire the whole car. i am working on just using the factory nav screen as the video screen with pioneer aftermarket dvd player and tv tuner so at least you have the factory appearing navigation dash unit and radio. i have an entire denso made 98 ls400 nav unit and radio with the disc drive computer, gps antenna and entire wiring harness removed from a salvaged 98 ls400 but you would have to take your entire car apart to install it properly.

it can be done if you have the time and have some knowleadge car audio and video as the stock navi wireing in part of the main harness of the car so what you will need is the ends that plug into the navi / stereo the main navi unit in the trunk the climate controls and a wireing diagram of the navi connections and connect the 2 together and run the harness you made to the trunk I have done this on the acura navi systems .

the bulk of the cost is getting the navi system with the deck and main unit ,antenna with the plug pig tails cut from the car harness the rest is just time to connect the wires there was a guy on this board that did it I can't remember his name he said it took less then 2 hours to make the harness the only way to find out how much is to call a wrecking yard and ask them for the price of the system with the plugs to it since it will all bolt in it should be pretty easy once the harness is made
