Didn't even know they used Bose in a Lexus. What a crime! With some Lexus models (SC) you can bypass the amp. With others such as the GS you'll need a Line Level Converter, or Line Out Converter. I'd stay away from PAC or Scosche as I've had some bad luck with their products. Audiolink is the best bet that I've seen so far.

Not sure about the 93 LS400. Best bet is to go over to your local Lexus dealership and request the EWD, or Electrical Wiring Diagram for the radio. I've only seen Nakamichi or Pioneer installed within Lexus models so a Bose would be something (ugh) new. If the headunit has L/R pairs then you can possibly modify without the LLC. If it only has one pair of L/R outputs then you'll need to stick a LLC after the amp.

thanks...i am not 100% sure its a Bose, he thought it was, but said it might be a Nak...

this sounds like it could end up being a pain in the @ss..

the amp he has for his subs has another amp built in, that can power 2 or 4 extra speakers (can't remember exactly..) so i might make him buy new speakers and just run them off of that amp..

thanks!

Do we not like Bose? I always thought Bose was better than Pioneer, maybe not Nakamichi, though.

Every single Bose system that I've listened too was veiled and muddy. But that's comparing them to high end SACD SCD-1, Dyn Esotar speakers and all of the other goodies.

I've listened to the Bose system in the '88 Mercury Cougar and recently in the 2000 Acura TL. For the untrained and average consumer, you'd think they were the top grade. But let the average consumer listen to the REAL top end and they'll know what to listen for.

Bose boosts up the midbass and treble. Also the frequency response seems to have quite a few peaks.

But, I have to give Bose credit. They are a HUGE marketing machine. Lots of "flash and dash" to fool the average consumer.

If I remember right, they're a part of the Harman International group. That's JBL, Infinity, Harman Kardon, Mark Levinson and Revell (sp?) . Add Bose to the list...see the pattern? Lots of cash for them to hype products.
