Appreciate some recommendations on SUB + amp setup!
I know absolutely nothing about sound systems I'm looking for a SUB + AMP setup that provides 'good' bass, I'm not here to win a Sound system competition, just looking for added bass.
Looking to spend no more than $500 (excluding installation) on SUB/AMP combined...I would appreciate recommendations on a setup to get the most amount of THUMP for the money...
thanks

thats a pretty low budget but workable.
You could get 2 12" Alpine Type R DVC 2 ohm kind for around 120 each. and wire it down to 2 ohms.
and buy a JBL 1200.1 Amp for around 300 shipped. that would pound major ***. its the same setup i have.
but it would cost you around another 200 or so for installation. a box and power cable. good jluck

hey jmai, i have that same amp with two kicker L5 solo barics in my other car. Do you have anything extra? like lightning caps, extra battery? coz i just had to get my alternator replaced and battery replaced, just wondering it is running to much power. Oh i have one cap.
As for him recommending the JBL 1200.1, i agree, it kicks ***, my friend has the 600.1 and that one kicks *** as well.

Yes the JBL1200.1 is THE BEST bang for the buck. i think you can get it for like 280 shipped. and it is 1 ohm stable. its a great amp and has LOTS of power.
AZN LEX, All i have is a yellow top battery and a rockford fosgate 1 farad digital cap. everything else electronically is stock. what kind of car do you have??? replacing batteries is almost a must after 10 year old car. alternator usually don't go bad.
Here is what people get confused. a Battery should not be the first thing to upgrade if you are getting a big sound system. the first thing if you WANT to upgrade something is definetly the alternator. the alternator is where your sound system is gettings its power from. most amps are rated at 12-14 volts. if you upgrade a good alternator you will get max output out of your amp because it will put out 14.4 volts. but if you upgrade a battery all that does is make sure your voltage doesn't drop below 12 volts. The battery should only be used to start the car. you should not depend on a battery to bump your sound system. Sure it helps dimming lights because your light only uses 12 volts and the battery has a big capacity and you should definetly get a battery if your lights dim. don't bother getting a cap. that actually puts more strain on your system then helps it. the only reason why i have a cap is because i got it for a really good price and i like the look of the digital read out.
i know i am contridicting myself by having an aftermarket battery but my alternator is still stock. the reason why i have a battery is because i play my sound system quiet a lot with my engine off.
